IATF Attendance Policy Recommendation

Attendance Policy Recommendation

Round-Robin Absences

  • League Member absence during the league’s round-robin may be accommodated by rescheduling their week’s matches to other weeks

    • Matches may be rescheduled to earlier or later weeks, distributed to balance play week to week

  • The League Runner will accommodate League Member absence during the round-robin provided:

    • the League Member has given at least 1 week advance notice (once per league season), or

    • the League Member has not given advance notice (once per league season)

  • Absences that are not accommodated will have a week’s equivalent of matches forfeit

  • At the conclusion of the last week of the round-robin, remaining unplayed matches will be forfeit

  • Some specific absence scenarios:

    • Alice misses a match during Week 6 with advance notice, the match is rescheduled to Week 7. Bob, Alice’s opponent, is present Week 6, but is absent Week 7 without notice. Alice will receive the forfeit win and Bob receives the forfeit loss

    • Alice misses a match during Week 6 without advance notice, and Bob, Alice’s opponent, is in attendance Week 6, but has provided advance notice they will be absent on Week 7. Alice, regardless if they are in attendance Week 7, will forfeit the match as they did not provide notice and Bob will receive the forfeit win

    • If Alice and Bob both miss their match scheduled on Week 7, then both players will forfeit that match and both receive a forfeit loss

      • This also applies if both players missed an earlier scheduled match that was then moved to Week 7, and both miss the rescheduled match

Late Arrival & Early Departure

  • League Members receive a 90 minute grace on late arrivals to a league night

    • The League Runner will accommodate lateness of up to 90 minutes after official league start time

    • Late League Member’s opponents are not required to wait for their arrival beyond the 90 minute period. If an opponent chooses to leave after 90 minutes, the late League Member’s matches will be forfeit to the opponent.

      • ex. An opponent has completed all their other scheduled matches, they are free to leave without waiting for the late League Member to arrive

  • League Members are subject to a 90 minute limitation on the need to leave early

    • League Members that need to leave early should commit to staying at least 90 minutes after official league start time

    • If a League Member leaves before the 90 minute period, remaining scheduled matches will be forfeit to the opponents in attendance

  • Exceptions to these 90 minute periods and consequences may be made with the consent of the opponents and the League Runner

Playoff Absences & Late Arrival

  • In the event that a playoff competitor will not be present for competition, then all players below their standings rank move up one position in standings

    • i.e. the player in 15th place is not competing, the player ranked 16th now takes the 15th place position and 17th place moves up to 16th place, etc.

  • In the event that a playoff competitor is attending, but arriving late, then the playoff will begin and continue on schedule

    • If the competitor has not arrived when their first match is scheduled to begin, they will forfeit their first match, moving them to the B bracket.

    • If the competitor has not arrived when their B bracket match is scheduled to begin, they will forfeit that match and are eliminated from the playoff

  • For playoffs, there is no 90 minute grace period
