The International Axe Throwing Federation (IATF) is committed to supporting the growth of the sport of axe throwing. Founded in 2016, we maintain standardized rules and facilitate competition at every level, from local leagues to the international stage.

IATF gameplay is the most exciting and the most accessible for throwers and spectators alike. Our rule system dates back over 18 years and has been the basis of league play for over 20,000 competitive axe throwers and millions of event guests. Read more about our history and team..

A Challenge At Every Level
The IATF rules and target are simple to grasp and most players score a bullseye their first time playing. However, perfection is hard to achieve, offering experienced throwers something to strive for.

We believe axe throwing is for everyone and our community is the best in the world. We strive for open communication and transparency with our throwers through various outreach projects such as the IATF Panel of Throwers and feedback surveys. We promote accessibility and inclusion in our ruleset and through our Code of Conduct.

We value our throwers no matter where they are in their axe throwing journey. That’s why we are dedicated to showcasing a variety of skill sets across the Tournament Circuit and at the  annual International Axe Throwing Championship.

Membership Benefits

Our member organizations and their throwers are officially recognized on our website and eligible to compete in official IATF events such as the IATC and the Integrated Tournament Circuit.

The IATF collaborates directly with members at regularly held membership meetings that cover the future of the sport of axe throwing and of the Federation.

Monthly Membership: $100 USD
AxeScores League Management: $8 USD per player per season
